But the book is a romance, and it lived up to the expectations of its genre, so I can’t fault it for that. To put it bluntly, I wanted more spells and less sex. I was really excited about the magic and witchy stuff in this book, but it felt like those aspects were repeatedly pushed aside for the love story.

And then by the time I was finally in a groove I was afraid to interrupt myself to think about something as trivial as the book’s potential vibes. But I found with the book required an immense amount of effort for me to get into it. I wanted to take the book outside with hot cider and sit and read as colorful leaves fell from the trees. I wanted to be fully immersed in the fall and Halloween spirit. Otherwise I just found myself desperately trying to fully appreciate everything it was trying to offer. My one overarching thought throughout this entire book was that I’d like it more if the main love interests were lesbians.
